x3dom - SciVis@Web

iFX - Visualization Technology by Fraunhofer IGD

The competence centers for Visual Computing System Technologies and Interactive Engineering Technilogies of Fraunhofer IGD are jointly working on new tools to bring 3D scientific visualization contents to the web.

As a sneak preview, we implemented a simple demonstrator that shows how to integrate 3D applications natively into the web browser, without the need to install plugins. Obviously, the application scenarios are communication and presentation of simulation results. Clearly, even a broader range of application areas is possible. If you are interested in Internet-based 3D applications, please contact us.

You need a recent web browser supporting WebGL und HTML5 to view these demonstrators. Also your graphics drivers have to be up-to-date. For the best experience, we recommend Google Chrome. Recent versions of Firefox (6.0 or later) are also supported.
For more information on x3dom in German language, see heise.de, and iX magazine 11/2010.
